Report Suspicious Activity

Vandalism is costing our community league time and money.
The most recent incidents happened around the New Year with people breaking into the tennis shack, smashing coffee mugs, stealing the coffee pot, and setting off fire extinguishers.
Someone also put a hockey stick through the thermostat in the skate shack, causing the temperature in the building to get too hot - all the snow on the roof started to melt and flood and damage the tennis area.

Other problems in the past year include people drinking and breaking bottles in the playground, suspicious activity in the parking lot (people passing things between cars and young women getting in and out of cars), and break-ins at the hall and skate shack.

The GCL board is trying to discourage illegal activity by hiring a security firm to do nightly patrols, protecting hall windows, and increasing visibility around the park and buildings, but we need your help too.

Our Community Constable tells us that police need to be aware of any suspicious activity to increase their presence in the area.

If you see anything suspicious,
call police at 780-423-4567.
Program the number into your cell phone so you have it when you are out in the community.
Try to have a description of the people or vehicles involved. Police will try to send a car out - and if the complaints pile up they have the statistics to show they need to spend more time in Greenfield.
Together our community can put a stop to these crimes.

Police Warning for Owners of Small Pets

Police are warning owners of cats and small dogs to keep their pets inside.  In 2009/2010 thirteen cats were reported killed in our neighbourhood. Police say three of the deaths are suspicious. The cause of five of the deaths is undetermined and the remaining five cases are the result of a predator, likely a coyote. (In one case, the animal's tracks could be seen on the fence where it entered the yard.) Given the number of incidents police suggest small pet owners not let them outside unsupervised.
