Help make our community a great place to live

The GCL board is putting out a special request for someone to volunteer to be our Vice-President. President Ian Hicks' day job is taking him out of town during the week for awhile. He needs some help! Please see our Volunteers page for more information about this and other opportunities to make a difference in our community.

Casino Volunteers needed

Greenfield Community League's next fundraising casino will be Saturday January 23rd and Monday January 24th at Palace Casino in West Edmonton Mall. Email Tom Rothwell or reach him by phone at 780-437-0898 to volunteer.

As part of the South West Area Council Greenfield will also need volunteers for the SWAC casino: Thursday February 10 and Friday February 11th at the Argyll Road Casino. Contact Greg Clarke at 780-430-9227 to sign up.

Volunteers will be treated to lunch or supper. Great chance to get out and meet some of your neighbours!

Community League Day

Join us at Greenfield Community hall on Saturday, September 18th from 11am to 2pm for a chance to meet the GCL board, get your 2010/11 membership, and learn about our programs and volunteer opportunities. Refreshments and goody bags for members.

Register for Fall Programs

Fun for Wee Ones starts in mid-September. Check out our Kids' Programs for more information on registering.

See our Programs page to find out how to register for other programs offered this fall at Greenfield hall including: yoga, fitness classes, karate, rhythmic gymnastics and chinese dancing.

Help fight Vandalism

Recently the Greenfield Playground and Greenfield Community Hall and Skate/Tennis Shack buildings have been the target of vandalism and break-ins. If you have any infomation about these events, please contact a member of the GCL executive team or Karrie Adolf, Hall Manager. The board has hired a security firm to do random nightly patrols of the area but we need your help too. If you notice any suspicious behaviour in or around this area, please telephone the police at 780-423-4567. Together the community can stop these events from continuing.

Plan your party at Greenfield Hall!

Thinking about having a party or event and your house just isn't big enough? Starting to plan your company or family Christmas Party? Consider renting the Greenfield Community Hall. Contact Karrie at 780-288-9947 or hall.bookings@greenfieldcommunityleague.com and visit the hall rentals section of this website for more information.

Missing something?

The Greenfield Community Hall Lost and Found is overflowing! If you have left any clothing, sunglasses, keys, footwear, scooters, or other odds and sods at the playground or hall over the last couple of months and would like them back, please contact Karrie at 780-288-9947 and she will meet you at the hall to go through the lost and found items.

Petrolia Mall update

Renovations have started at Petrolia Mall. Owner Fred Mok says he will be getting a new anchor tenant - Giant Tiger, an Ottawa-based discount store. No word yet on when the project is expected to be finished.

LRT crossing warning bells replaced

GCL received an update from Councillor Bryan Anderson in response to complaints from nearby residents about the noise of the LRT crossing warning bells. The city has replaced the bells at 40th Avenue with a version that has a more localized ring and plans to replace the bells at 3 or 4 more locations where they have received lots of complaints. If the replacement bells resolve the noise complaints, the city will replace all the bells on the South LRT line. In case the new bells don't resolve the noise problem, the city continues to look into other options such as whether it is possible to have a different volume for the bells during the day vs. at night.
