Beginner Junior lessons are great for those children ages 7-9 who are just learning how to play tennis. Basic skill refinement is combined with a variety of fun games. Lessons are Tuesdays at 4 pm. and/or Thursdays, at 2:30 pm.
Junior lessons involve games and a fun atmosphere, for children ages 9 - 12 who are interested in eventual competitive play. Lessons are Mondays, 4:00 pm. and/or Wednesdays, at 4:00 pm.
Girls Only junior lessons gives girls ages 9-13 a chance to learn tennis skills in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Lessons are Thursdays at 4:00 pm. and/or Saturdays at noon.
Teen Scene is a program geared for youth aged 14-17 years. If you have never played tennis and are interested in learning, please join us on the courts on Mondays, 5:00 pm. and/or Wednesdays at 5:00 pm.
Advanced Teen if you are a more experienced 14–17 year old tennis player and interested in improving your strokes or game tactics for competitive play then advanced lessons are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
Junior Ladder Night is a special time on Friday evenings for experienced junior players to drop-in and play some matches to hone their skills and challenge other juniors on the ladder. There is no charge for this opportunity.
Beginner Adult Group Lessons: An enjoyable way to learn basic tennis skills; you’ll get addicted to tennis! Sundays, 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
Intermediate Adult Group Lessons: For those who know their basic strokes and are looking to improve their game. Sundays, 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
Experienced Adult Group Lessons: Take your game to the next level; drills will be designed to improve your technical consistency and competitive exercises will refine your tactics. Sundays, 8:00 – 9:00 pm.
Shot-of-the-Week: The Tennis Pro will teach one stroke for the first twenty minutes before doubles matches are played. Learn about topspin backhands, volleys, serves, approach shots, the slice backhand, and tactical lobs. It’s a great way to get specific instruction, meet other members, and have a lot of fun! Thursdays, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. all season, free of charge for all tennis members.
Club Night: Every week club adult members get together and play doubles, you do not need a partner, you just have to want to play! Tuesdays, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. All season, free of charge for all members.
Hit With A Pro: If you want to get on the court, but lack a hitting partner, or simply want to try your skills at a higher level you can book an hour with our pro Monday – Wednesday evenings for a nominal fee of $5.00. These sessions are not a lesson, so do not expect feedback. To play in this you must book your time directly with the pro by calling or dropping in to the clubhouse weekday evenings and speak to Dan.
GETA Interclub League. If you are interested in playing in the Tennis Edmonton (formerly known as the Greater Edmonton Tennis Association – GETA) competitive tennis league this year, please contact Doug Rault at tennisedmonton@gmail.com . Please note that tennis membership is required to play in the Mens, Ladies or Mixed Interclub Leagues or Ladies Fun League.
Cost for tennis lessons: The cost for a set of six lessons (children or adult) once per week is $45 for tennis club members; $60 for non-members. Cost for lessons twice per week (12 lessons) is $80 for tennis club members; $110 for non-members. Discounts of $5 are also offered for enrolling more than one child per family in tennis lessons.
Private lessons can be arranged by speaking directly to Nancy Petersen, however, time slots are very limited, sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
The nets and windscreens are scheduled to be installed once the snow clears the courts and the weather warms up.
We hope to see you on the Greenfield Community tennis courts, we are looking forward to an exciting season!
