Garden Updates
We have been having another great year in 2021. The gardens have loved the sunshine and the plots look really great. All 16 plots were rented this year. We had some issues with our fruit bushes and rabbits but we continue to learn! Hopefully next year we will have a bit more fruit. COVID-19 still coloured our second year as we couldn't hold large events or large volunteer workdays. We hope by next season we will be able to come together more as garden members and volunteers as well as with the community.
For Greenfield Community League Day 2021, the garden committee will be holding a veggie and seed swap table. Bring some extra vegetables or seeds you have and see what you might find! This is also a great chance to learn more about the garden or put your name on the waitlist if you are interested in having a plot in the future. We will be there 11:00AM to 3:00PM.
Thank you to all the volunteers and plot members for another great year. We enjoy seeing the effect the garden has had on the community. Lots of community members and visitors are learning and connecting over growing food. The garden brings the community together and has been a bright spot for Greenfield in what has been a hard time for everyone over the past 2 years.
Don't forget to stop by and see what is ready in the 2 community plots (see picture to the right). These 2 community plots along with the fruit tree and bushes are for everyone to enjoy but the other 16 plots are private rentals. The compost has also been filling up. Please remember to follow the signs and only add to the bin with the check mark, and to avoid adding any garbage, stickers, or plastic bags (even compostable ones). Thanks to everyone that contributes to the nourishment of our gardens through making our own compost.
Hopefully we will have some ready to use for the next season!
We are looking forward to the harvest this year and the end of another growing season. Connect with the garden committee
